Sinem AYDIN is graduated from Manisa Celal Bayar University Department of Biology in 2001. And then she completed her Master of Science in Manisa Celal Bayar University the Department of Biology in the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences in 2004. She received her PhD degree from the Institute of Marine Sciences and Technology at Dokuz Eylül University in the field of Marine Living Resources in 2011. She was appointed as a Lecturer at the same university in 2012. She is working as an associated professor at the Institute of Marine Sciences and Technology since 2018. Dr. AYDIN has participated in 18 scientific research projects funded by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK), ministries, universities and the European Union. She has completed 1 project entitled as “The use of ascidians and bryozoans as biological indicator organisms to monitor heavy metal pollution in eastern Aegean coastal waters” funded by TUBİTAK as a project leader. Her studies generally focus on heavy metals accumulation in marine sediments and organisms. Her other research interests are nutrients, marine pollution, the bioaccumulation of organotin (butyltin species) in marine biota. She is currently working on ascidians identification, systematics, taxonomy, fouling organisms, alien and invasive species in the marine environment and also she is working on different topics releated to ascidians belong to the Tunicate group.

Yong Jaw Chuen. His research interests are related to marine pollution and marine biogeochemistry of inorganic and organic compounds. His research activities are focused on nutrients, bacteria indicators, trace elements, and particular PAHs through a combination of multidisciplinary research work. The research investigations are the atmospheric dust aerosol deposition on the ocean, nutrient enrichment influences on the phytoplankton and coral reef ecosystem, water quality in the aquatic system, ocean acidification mesocosm study, PAHs in the marine environment, and the health risk to humans. The research approaches are mainly collecting samples and conduct experimental work in the open ocean, coastal waters, mangroves, and analytical work in laboratory using diverse analytical techniques and instruments. He is also committed to the education services to the undergraduate level by the Faculty of Science and Marine Environment, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu.

She has just completed two different projects accepted within the scope of the mucilage call funded by TUBITAK as a researcher. She also attended some of courses such as (Sustainable Blue Growth by OGS in Italian National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics- Trieste-Italy- 2015) and IOSC (International Oil Spill Conference- Long beach- USA- 2017) receiving scholarship. Esra has several years of experience in the field of Marine environment. Her environmental awareness interests are mainly on marine ecosystem, marine pollution –particularly petroleum hydrocarbons-, water quality, marine chemistry, chemical oceanography, organic and inorganic pollutants, their interaction with marine ecosystems and pollution at Turkish Straits System. Furthermore, she is experienced on teaching and have taught many courses in water quality, marine pollution and petroleum pollution at university. She has MSc and PhD courses as “Sources and Fate of Micropollutants in the Marine Environment” and “Litters in Marine”, respectively. Finally, her career goal is to contribute positively to chemical cycle of micro plastics in marine environment.
