Behrooz Abtahi
Behrooz Abtahi is a graduate of the University of Tehran, and the Moscow Institute of Oceanography VNIRO. Behrooz Abtahi is an academic staff of university since 1993, and now has a position of Professor and Vice-President of Shahid Beheshti [State] University in Tehran. He was Director of Iranian National Institute for Oceanography and Atmospheric Science (INIOAS) 4 years (2017-2021) and the Head of “UNESCO Regional Education and Research Center on Oceanography for West Asia. His field of interest is Oceanography, marine ecology and marine resources sustainable management. He has leaded and participated in a number of research projects in Iranian marine areas (Persian Gulf, Gulf of Oman and Caspian Sea). His teaching experiences are in the above-mentioned fields.
Hamid A. K. Lahijani
HamidAlizadeh Ketek Lahijani is a professor and tenured faculty member of the Iranian National Institute for Oceanography and Atmospheric Science (INIOAS) since 1998. He was research deputy of INIOAS around 12 years. His field of interest is Quaternary climate, marine geology and marine hazards. He has leaded and participated in a number of research projects in Iranian peripheral seas (Persian Gulf, Gulf of Oman and Caspian Sea) and internal lakes. His teaching experiences are in the field of oceanography, marine geology and non-living characteristics of Iranian seas (Caspian Sea, Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman) at INIOAS and state universities.
Prof. Dr. Georgy Cherkashov
He is Deputy director of the Institute for Geology and Mineral Resources of the Ocean (VNIIOkeangeologia, St. Petersburg) of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation. He holds a Dr. Sci. for research of seafloor massive sulfide deposits (SMS) of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge (2004). Chief scientist of 13 ocean-going expeditions for research and prospecting of ferromanganese and SMS deposits (1982-2007) including diving missions on MIR and other submersibles. Member of the Legal and Technical Commission of the International Seabed Authority (since 2012). Professor of St. Petersburg State University (Marine Geology, since 2005). President of International Marine Minerals Society (2011-2012). Published more than 130 articles and chapters in monographs related to marine geology and deep-sea mineral resources.
